Development of WordPress 3.1 begins in September

If you use the development versions of WordPress, you will have noticed the little amount of news in WordPress 3.1-alpha so far, and even that So far there is nothing that tells us "this will go in 3.1, and this will not". It is more: until now, we have only known that version 3.2 will require MySQL 5 and PHP 5.3 but nothing of version 3.1.

And is that the active development of version 3.1 will begin only in September : before, we will only see patches and one or two retouching in the current version in development. Why? I would be lying if I gave a reason, but considering that the development of the next version always begins when a new version is released (I do not know if you understand me), it is extremely strange.

Maybe they will thin the code, or they will begin to prepare the way for version 3.2, or just taking a vacation after the effort invested in version 3.0. What is certain, is that both version 3.1 and 3.2 will be quite important (or interesting) steps for WordPress.

Notify me katarsis20032002 that they are dedicating themselves to work in the WordPress community until September and for that reason the development of version 3.1 is "so lazy". Very interesting to stop a time the development of WordPress to focus on the community . Although it is also disappointing to know that no efforts are being made to reduce the code in the development version. Well, as it is said here "something is something."

Rest for holidays

Well, this post is to apologize for the next 2 weeks I take a few days off and I can not be updating the blog, maybe someday – if there is something urgent or important – but not with the usual routine. [19659002] Anyway, there you have the tags and categories to review them in case you have any need, and the WordPress forum of support between users is also open, where you will always find a helping hand.

However, I remind you that this blog is open and participatory, so if you are encouraged you can always publish what you want to share with the rest of the community. I will spend at least once a day in case there is an article pending approval so that this may come to life with your participation.

Nothing more, have a good time, I will try to rest and enjoy nature, which is what what more I miss If you are curious or would like to chat some time (please do not ask for support) you can follow me on Twitter and, if I can, I will post a photo on my Flickr or on my personal blog .

Twitter in WordPress- Add Twitter button in WordPress

Surely by now, although almost no time has passed, you know that Twitter has released its official button to share content. Well, after a few hours we have many ways to use the new official Twitter button, aim and choose the one you like the most …

If you've already lost the fear of "touching" the theme you use, almost nothing better than Serve yourself from the official instructions to generate the button as you like and paste the code in your theme, usually in single.php or index.php although you can put it in more places, as in the file.

Of course, how could it be otherwise, within a few hours of being available began to appear plugins with which to facilitate and improve the inclusion of the new button, here are the available:

As you see there are a few, and all new, yours is the choice. I did not add it because the plugin I use already incorporates this functionality, in addition to others.

Oh, and – I think I've never commented it – you can follow me on Twitter we'll see you there. ]

Return comments from Google Buzz to your blog

And look where it turns out that there is also a solution for this, we do not know if Google will kill Buzz as it has done with Wave but for the moment we will retrieve the comments, so it can happen. [19659002] So if you want to prevent the conversation about your posts from getting scattered, also at Google Buzz you can retrieve the comments that people make about your entries in Buzz.

You just have to install ] Buzz Comments a plugin that also works as Backtype connect but retrieving the comments from Google Buzz and showing them on our site, with a small indication of the source, with link to the "buzz".

Little has to be done to make it work, only have Gooble Buzz activated in your GMail account logically, and that your site is in the list of Google Buzz but if there is also no option for the same plugin to connect it.

What's the cool? At this rate we will soon have managed to return the comments to our blogs 😉

Import Facebook comments to WordPress

Today most conversation has gone to social media . Sites like Twitter or Facebook collect information from our blogs or websites, sent most of the time by ourselves through plugins, feeds or even internal applications of these social media leaders and, of course, in the end it turns out that people comments in the Facebook entry about our publication instead of the originating site of the content our blog.

For this we will use the plugin called Facebook comments importer whose function is exactly that . Using it is really simple …

Nothing else, with this you will get that the conversation is where it should never have left although you will have to admit that a large part of the fault is ourself in facilitating that our content is automatically published on social networks, but that's another discussion, do not you think?

Note: For the plugin to detect comments, the annotations must be as such, as notes, if you use any other system (as RSS Graffitti) to show the posts of your site on Facebook the plugin will not detect the links to your site and, consequently, the comments to them.

Simple Twitter Connect incorporates the official Twitter button

If you use the plugin Simple Twitter Connect you should know that an update has been available for a while now, incorporating the new official Twitter button to share content.

entry Simple Twitter Connect incorporates the official Twitter button published it first Fernando Tellado in WordPress Help . Do not copy content, do not say anything good about you to your readers.

SQL commands to master comments and references in WordPress • WordPress Help

If you want, for whatever reason, apply the third grade to the comments and the pingbacks / tracbacks in all your published posts, instead to go one by one, you can do it using SQL commands from phpMyAdmin .

Here you have a series of commands to execute:

Delete all spam comments at once:

Open comments on all entries:

Close comments on all entries:

Open / close comments before a specific date:

This query can be customized (in fact you must do it) to change the comment_status as [19459] 042] open closed or registered_only depending on whether you want to open, close or open them only for registered users. Also, of course, change the date.

Activate / deactivate pingbacks and trackbacks:

To activate them:

To disable them:

Activate / deactivate before a specific date:

Equal that in the case of comments, you can s change the comment_status and the date.

Activate / deactivate comments, pingbacks and trackbacks:

If you have it clear, you can even close (or open) comments, pingbacks and trackbacks all at once . For this you would use this query:

Again, you must play with the comment_status and ping_status . And if, again, we want to play with dates and define before that date activate or deactivate all comments, pingbacks and trackbacks, we can make a change in the query to get it:

Playing, again, with the "status" and the date.

Hala, write it down in favorites, share it on Twitter, Facebook or wherever you like it! These things are for saving them and using them when needed, do not you think?

I have removed the file!

If you noticed, you no longer have a widget in the sidebar to navigate through the file of WordPress Help . And it's not that I have a mania or that I want to hide the past, it's just that I have found a better way (muuucho better) to offer the file of the published.

Have I aroused your curiosity? …

I propose you a game, and that is to discover how to navigate the blog file. Because being there is, in every post, on the cover, in the navigation by categories, by labels, in the most obvious possible site, have you still not got it right? Come on, a little bit of attention …

(if you do not find out, turn to page 2)

Galleries for everyone!

If you have a site where you want to generate community offer services to your users beyond what is included in WordPress , or you want to convert your WordPress + BuddyPress into an authentic portal, or simply allow some interaction of your visitors, allowing them to upload their photos you can get it in a very simple way.

I can think of many situations in which to use something like that, be it a community of photography enthusiasts, friends of pets, a family blog, etc., just take your imagination to flight because right now you can offer your visitors upload photos even without being registered in your WordPress.

Thanks to PhotoSmash Galleries an awesome plugin, you can do that and much more. And is that not only allows you to create galleries with features much higher than those included in WordPress but you can allow that users of your site upload their own images and have their own gallery . You can create several galleries, some for the authors, others for visitors, include them in posts and pages, add votes and that the readers make their list of favorites, etc, etc, etc. The possibilities are almost endless.

Also, that's only with the basic functions, if you activate the advanced menus you enter the exciting world of custom fields and shortcodes .

list of utilities that you can give you only has as limit your imagination and, of course, that you spend a while configuring the hundreds of available options and doing tests. Oh, it also offers widgets with which to show the tags of the photos and even the latest, the most voted, whatever you want, I'll tell you it's very complete.

If you want to see how it works, at the basic level, you can try it on this page that I created (the size limit per photo is 300 kb), and if you're convinced install it from WordPress or download it on the plugin page .

I hope you like it, I've been looking for something like that for a lot of ideas I have for some projects.
