As every morning I check the news of WordPress 2.7 that I update through SVN in the ] WordPress Demo Site 2.7 and today I was pleasantly surprised.
The interface has been completely changed, adapting the Crazyhorse model, a parallel development that totally redesigns the admin panel
Now, with the new update, called " 2.7 hemorrhage " (funny nickname), you have a drop-down menu on the left from where you can access the fundamental menus, as well as new links and buttons
And that's where the news is not finished, the editor screen has changed its distribution, and now the main widgets are at the right much more by hand. There is also a new option for to set as fixed a post ( sticky ) and a section for to manage the media added to entry . I especially loved the fact that unify the media insert buttons into one.
Another advance that I consider important is the added possibility of define the default size, link and alignment when inserting images subject that in the current version was wasting a lot of time.
As a curiosity I have to define the new menu "Inbox" where you will have the new messages from the team of WordPress in the style of what appears in the panel of hosted blogs Well, here in your separate menu, if you want, you see it and if not …
We have also listened to the users modifying the comments panel where return links to edit, delete r, etc and adding one more that allows to follow up on comments (interesting).
In entry administration panel there is one more view, the extract display which allows you to preview part of the posts. Sincerely I see little utility.
But perhaps the most interesting part of this update is the plugins installation panel where you are, initially, a tag browser and a search engine to locate the ones you want to install automatically .
But not only that, but you also have of tabs for upload a plugin that you have hosted on your computer, list of featured plugins, new and recently added . A joy to keep WordPress up to date.
As you can see, the matter is progressing and it seems that there is little left for the first public version of WordPress 2.7 . In the meantime, you can get the air in the WordPress 2.7 demo.
