What do you use to post on your blog? • WordPress Help

In WLTC they have created an interesting survey, and I thought that it could be of interest also for the Hispanic community. Sure we learn a lot from the comments of the "whys" of each one when choosing a method of publication in WordPress.

In my case the main method " The writing panel of WordPress "Because after going through multiple desktop editors I found that the best thing is the WordPress panel itself, even when it is offline – using Gears – you can prepare your posts for later publication, and you have everything at hand. Additionally, the miniposts I publish from QuickPress and when I get the inspiration without my Mac to public hand from the iPhone, which is now quite drinkable, being able to copy and paste, insert URLs easily and adding images so simple.

In the survey you can choose several options (even all) to make the result more real …

Is WordPress 2.7 better? • WordPress Help

I have been using WordPress 2.7 for months, since the first pre-Alpha versions, and although I like it more than WordPress 2.5 in terms of usability (that version was a delay, forgettable) I have to admit that it has not met all my expectations.

And yes, I have to admit that the new packaging is fantastic. Now any administration and publication task is easier and faster, accessible with fewer clicks, plus it has gained in loading speed of the administration components, not to mention if you activate Google Gears . But it has been a facelift, nice but I would have liked it to bring about other changes.

And that is that the guts have changed little in my point of view. Things like the management of the images are still deficient. Added the ability to sort the elements of a gallery, or define the default action when clicking (link to the image or page), but still missing things. One of them is the surprising fact that you can not integrate a "not complete" gallery into a post. Imagine the situation: load 5 images, one of them to illustrate your post and the other 4 to give examples at the end (of whatever). Well when loading the gallery you can not define that the first image is not repeated.

Another issue that seems to be solved in WordPress 2.8 is the fact that you can load several images without having to exit of the image manager Flash one of its worst virtues. Now if you insert an image it takes you out of the imager, and to insert another one a paragraph below you have to reopen it, and so on. This was really simpler in WordPress 2.3 and earlier. It seems to me a relevant lack and that makes you lose time in one of the basic tasks of a system of publication of blogs.

Another issue that remained in the inkwell was the update of themes although I understand that this was a delicate matter, considering that any user usually makes many modifications to their theme, and updating would all be lost. But … why not create a universal way of creating themes that allows you to customize the interface while updating the functions ?. I think there are examples to consider, like Carrington or WP-Framework that a new structuring of the WordPress themes would be more than interesting. [19659004] Let's not say if you could define how the images will look in the extracts or in the full view, something that now needs to retouch the code of the template. Also, now that this issue comes out, it would be great if they were finally encouraged to put a better editor of themes and plugins, not with quicktags but at least with the possibility of saving several versions, drafts, or function of to undo changes, do not you think?

Well, I'm sure you have more ideas than WordPress 2.7 should have been, or WordPress in the future [19459109].

The Future of WordPress

More and more WordPress seems to be turning into something similar to Microsoft Word a fantastic text processing application but with so many options and functionalities that instead of growing forward it seems to get fatter, getting heavier and heavier.

and WordPress seems to have this same tendency each it includes more utilities and features but, just like on your computer, if you want to simply write, it is often slow and heavy . If you use your Notepad or TextEdit instead of Word WordPress may end up happening the same, as we prefer to use a desktop thin client instead of accessing the increasingly overloaded WordPress interface .

Before using WordPress I used to publish with Joomla and one of the virtues that attracted me of WordPress was the fact that it was much simpler, with less madness of options and menus, easier to arrive in a few clicks to what you wanted to do.

But since, above all, version 2.5 the administration interface has been overloaded and despite the fact that it is a success the new organization in WordPress 2.7 the end result is that to write in your blog load much faster WordPress 2.3 let's not go Previous rsiones, that the latest version, still having activated Google Gears .

As I do not like to criticize without proposing, WordPress should impact on future versions the possibility that the user could configure his administration interface so that only what he needs is shown, and downloading from the memory all the functions that are not essential . Something like Custom Admin Menu but integrated into the WordPress kernel . WordPress 2.7 has already included something similar, but not complete, only affects the contents of certain pages of the administration panel, rather it would be something global, more similar to the administration panel of Habari .

] With something like this you could define which menus are displayed and which ones are not, and go a little further and even define a custom CSS for the administration panel .

Have you also seen this trend?

More news in WordPress 2.7 • WordPress Help

Well, call it news or experiments, but the fact is that every day there are changes in the administration interface of WordPress 2.7 that you already know you can try on the Demo site.

One that almost it escapes me is that now there is no text with link for the list or extract view in the comment management page but that 2 icons have been enabled from which to switch between these two views.

And besides that, a not be that I have passed some other novelty, we only have, in today's revision, a redistribution of the side menus, offering in the menu Tools ("Tools") two additions.

Press this : an adaptation, for my misplaced taste where it is right now, of the bookmarlet .

Google Gears : on its own page, another experiment (expero) because it is unnecessary

Well, for today this has been or the news report in WordPress 2.7. We will continue informing

Google Gears Safari

The tool Google Gears for the Safari browser is now available. From today you can integrate the option Turbo to accelerate the loading of WordPress using Google Gears also from the Apple browser.

Although in version ßeta I installed it and works perfectly just like with Firefox . There is only one peculiarity, and that is that is not self-installed from the same browser as in Firefox but you have to download this disk image and mount it on your Mac (At the moment there is only version for Safari Mac) to install it as any application.

Once installed, restart Safari and you have it available for to put the WordPress Turbo and other applications.
